Mentoring

Weill Cornell alumni serve as inspiring mentors to our students and new alumni through the following programs:

Young Alumni Network

The Young Alumni Network facilitates relationships among Weill Cornell graduates. Through the program, alumni who graduated within the past few years are paired with graduating students from the same hospital or institution. The alumni serve as mentors for the students, with the expectation that they meet occasionally to provide support and guidance.

Family System

In addition to fostering new connections among students, the goal of this program is to provide students with the opportunity to develop strong mentor relationships with alumni physicians and faculty members throughout their medical school experience. Within the Family System, the student body is divided into 30 inter-class support groups. Each "family" consists of approximately 15 students from across the class years, as well as one to two alumni mentors known as “parents”.

The “parents” are asked to organize gatherings with their families, and provide support and guidance for their students. There is no required time or monetary commitment. The Office of Student Affairs supports the program with organized events throughout the year.
